   Rapture

Rapture of the deep
Entwined me in both
Aquamarine
Glistening pearls
And wreaths of sad seaweed
Come this way
Thisss way, it hissed and frothed
I fought back-voices
Voices in my head
Were murmuring louder
Now now they whispered
No no I screamed
Take me to the ocean and
Drop me like a stone
Take me away from the hunted
And the hunters
The voices of the past
Of my inhuman education
Degradation
(Can't smoke down here they cried)
An ancient purple lullaby
Rose up to greet me
Its hands were wide with
Anger and fatigue
Take the lady in blue
Give her her mind back
Take the wig off
Have the day off
Shrieked my landlord of western soap operas
Tinged in blue and green diamanté
Soap will dye your skin
Turn you in
Make you sin and purple
It was only when I turned
Movement
Surrender to the deep
Whispered my conscience
Lying on fertility
The sea bed was moving
Engulfing my brother
My brother
Becoming himself.
